Capital Projects

Capital Projects are those new construction and major renovation projects funded by voter-approved bonds. The community has demonstrated support of District projects by approving a $141.5M bond in 2004 and a $261.6M bond in May 2008.  

 

Heery, International, Inc. has been contracted to manage the District's Capital Projects.

Update - January 2012

Aquatic Center

  • City suspended the Conditional Use Permit review.
  • Conditional Use Permit Hearing was postponed to address community concerns.
  • Completed the Schematic Design and presented to the Board.
  • Completed the Schematic Design Estimate, and presented it to the Board. The motion was approved.
  • Analysis of the MAC hazardous material continued to determine the phasing of the removal.
  • City infrastructure model was developed with a recommendation.

Centennial Middle School

North Addition

  • Completed  the final cleaning
  • Continued the commissioning process.
  • Began the punchlist activities.
  • Began the closeout process.
  • Obtained the Temporary Certificate of Occupancy.

Existing Building

  • Completed the installation of the masonry veneer for the Boiler Room and Drying Room.
  • Continued the commissioning process.
  • Continued to work on outstanding change order work.
  • Continued with punchlist activities. 

Sitework

  • Completed the Right-of-Way landscaping improvements.
  • Relocated the double portable classroom building to the original on-site location, and the second double portable to Dutch Hill Elementary.

Machias and Riverview Elementary

  • Back-punch walk occurred, and is 99% completed. A few minor items were still incomplete.
  • Continued the mechanical system commissioning.
  • Continued the close out procedures.
  • Update meetings occurred with the principals.

Snohomish High School

  • Continued the revised grading around the new bus loop.
  • Continued importing the structural fill for the visitor parking lot.
  • Continued owner training on the new systems.

Technology

All elementary and secondary schools not otherwise involved with Capital Projects have been brought up to district technology standards. 

Valley View Middle School

  • Continued the exterior framing for Building E.

  • Continued the installation of the brick veneer, currently 70% complete.

  • Continued the installation of the metal siding system, currently 60% complete.

  • Continued the installation of the curtainwall, currently 60% complete.

  • Continued the Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing rough-in on all three floors of Building’s A, B, C and D.

  • Completed the installation of the membrane roofing on Building D, and began installation on Building E.

  • Completed the drywall installation on the 2nd floor of Building’s A and B (classroom wing only)

  • Began the drywall installation on the 3rd floor of Building’s A and B

  • Switchgear (main electrical panels) were set.
