Planning continues for new Snohomish pool
Maple Avenue Campus chosen for site
The 2008 bond included funding to build a new aquatic center for the Snohomish community. Many studies and surveys have been conducted to assist in the selection of a site. The Maple Avenue Campus (former Freshman Campus) has been chosen as the best location for the Aquatic Center.

 

The new facility will accommodate educational needs, competitive events, athletics, wellness/therapy, and public recreation.

 

Dull Olson Weekes Architects have been selected to design the facility. The District continues to meet with the City to discuss future uses of the site. Bond funding only covers the Aquatic Center.

 

In early 2009 and 2010, the District held public meetings to share progress and gather community input for the new facility. Notes for these meetings are listed below.

January 2012 Update

  • City suspended the Conditional Use Permit review.
  • Conditional Use Permit Hearing was postponed to address community concerns.
  • Completed the Schematic Design and presented to the Board.
  • Completed the Schematic Design Estimate, and presented it to the Board. The motion was approved.
  • Analysis of the MAC hazardous material continued to determine the phasing of the removal.
  • City infrastructure model was developed with a recommendation.
