Machias & Riverview Elementary Schools

Students moved into new schools January 2011
Machias and Riverview Elementary Schools will be completely replaced thanks to voter approval of the May 2008 bonds.

 

Learning labs for art and science, a full-sized gym, large stage, and technology lab are features of both new schools. The buildings are also designed to give students a personal experience with sustainability and stewardship.

 

Although both schools are two-story and share these major components, the school designs are unique and representative of each community and the needs of each site.

 

Work to complete the exterior of both buildings is being done over the summer of 2010, and both projects are on target for substantial completion on November 15. The students of these schools were housed at Maple Avenue Campus (former Freshman Campus), and moved into their new buildings January 4, 2011.

January 2012 Update

  • Back-punch walk occurred, and is 99% completed. A few minor items were still incomplete.
  • Continued the mechanical system commissioning.
  • Continued the close out procedures.
  • Update meetings occurred with the principals.

November 2008 - Ed Specs completed and approved by School Board

January 2011 - Schools complete and ready for students
