Machias Elementary - Landscaping was completed. Continued the punchlist and backpunch. Continued the mechanical system functional testing/commissioning. Continued cost out procedures. Mediation hearing and settlement completed for the geothermal wells and pipe insulation.
Riverview Elementary - Completed the irrigation wiring hook up. Completed the exterior sunshades. Completed the commissioning. Closeout continuing.

February 2011 Update
Machias Elementary – The new school was opened to students on January 4, 2011. Substantial completion achieved. Punchlist items continue. Landscaping continues. Started the mechanical system functional testing.
Riverview Elementary - The new school was opened to students on January 4, 2011. Continued the remaining grading work. Continued the landscaping. Completed the fence installation. Installed the playground and swing area. Continued the punchlist work. Continued the commissioning. Initiated close out procedures.
January 2011 Update
Machias Elementary – The new school was opened to students on January 4, 2011. In December 2010, the corridor and commons flooring was completed. All mechanical units became operational. Wood slat ceiling installation completed. Gym floor striped and sealed. Landscaping continued. Mechanical and electrical trim completed. Sod installed at the playfield. Furniture delivery and placement continued. Play equipment installation began. Staff moved into the building.
Riverview Elementary - The new school was opened to students on January 4, 2011. In December 2010, the solar system was activated. Permanent water was established. Received the sign off for the septic system. Continued the final site grading. Continued the installation of the exterior concrete shingle system. Continued the landscaping and concrete walkways. Completed the mechanical equipment start up. Completed the Mondo flooring installation in the hallways. Completed the Marlite panel installation. Completed the sod installation at the playfield. Continued the playground installation. Continued the furniture deliveries. Completed the onsite paving.
December 2010 Update
Machias Elementary – Flooring completed in all areas except corridors and Commons. Mechanical units started up in the Commons/Gym and Library Wing. Corridor painting completed. Casework installation completed in the Admin Wing. Wood slat ceiling installation began at the corridors.Mechanical and electrical trim installation continued throughout the building. Ceramic tile installation was completed in all of the restrooms. Sod installed at the playfield. Started furniture delivery.

Riverview - Completed the veneer installation. Completed the HVAC duct installation in the Library Wing. Completed the roofing installation, except the covered play area. Completed the interior wall installation in the Library, and began in the Commons. Completed all window installation. Started the curtain wall installation. Completed the offsite and onsite waterline work. Continued the storm drainage system work. Continued the interior painting. Completed the installation of skylights. Started the installation of the ceiling grid, casework and septic drain field. Completed the green roof.
August 2010 Update
Machias Elementary – Interior and exterior wall framing was completed in the Admin Wing. Masonry veneer was completed in the Library Wing and began in the Admin Wing. Wall rough-in started in the Admin Wing and continued in the Library Wing and was completed in the Gym/Commons. Metal siding installation continued in the Library Wing and was completed in the Gym/Commons. Roofing was completed throughout. Window framing installation continues in the Gym/Commons and began in the Library Wing. Drilling for geothermal wells continued. Septic drain field installation was completed.

Machias - Structural steel erection for the administration wing was completed, and interior and exterior wall framing began. Exterior and interior wall framing for the library wing was completed, and masonry veneer began. Mechanical and electrical overhead and wall rough-in continued in the classrooms and gym/commons areas. Metal siding installation began in the library and gym/commons area. Masonry veneer was completed on the gym/commons, and roofing continued. Drilling for geothermal wells continued.
Riverview - Veneer installation was completed, and metal stairs were installed at the north wing. HVAC duct installation was completed in the north wing, and continued in the south and library wings. Roofing installation was completed in the north and south wings, and began in the library wing. Interior wall board installation in the north and south wings began. Window installation began.
June 2010 Update
Machias -Slabs were poured in the administration and library wings. Structural steel erection was completed, and exterior and interior wall framing has taken place in all areas. Masonry veneer and roofing began. The second floor deck was poured in the admin wing. Metal siding continues, and window installation has started in the gym/commons.
Riverview - Major structural steel erection was completed, and veneer installation began. Exterior and interior framing has been ongoing, and roofing installation continued. Electrical/mechanical/fire sprinkler rough-in continues throughout the building. Glue-lam beam installation is complete.
May 2010 Update
Machias - The roof deck was installed and the second floor slab on metal decks was poured in the Gym/Commons area and part of the classrooms area. Structural steel erection continued in the Admin wing. Exterior wall framing is complete at the gym/commons, and interior wall framing is ongoing. Roof decking is complete, and roofing has started. Drilling for geothermal wells began.
Riverview - North classroom wing structural steel erection was completed, and exterior sheathing is 85% complete. First floor exterior and interior framing was completed. Exterior and interior framing continues in the south classroom wing. Library wing slab on deck pour is complete. Off-site waterline installation is 60% complete.
April 2010 Update
Machias - Slab on grade was poured, and structural steel was erected for the classroom area. Basement and tunnel walls were waterproofed in the administrative wing, and columns and beams are set. Structural steel erection was completed in the gym/commons area, slab was poured for the second floor, and exterior wall framing is ongoing. Roof decking has begun (gym/commons).
Riverview - The north basement slab was poured, and north tunnel structural steel is in progress. All high walls around basements have been poured, and the administrative area structural steel is 95% complete. The south classroom wing structural steel erection and wing steel decking for the 2nd floor are ongoing.
March 2010 Update
Machias - Under slab mechanical and electrical rough-in was completed for the admin wing and gym/commons. Footings, walls, and slab on grade were poured for the gym/commons and admin wing. Footings were poured for the classrooms. Structural steel erection has begun.
Riverview - Continuous footings at the admin/library are 100% complete. The admin area slab is formed and rebar installed. North basement walls have been poured and water proofed. The kitchen slab has been poured.
February 2010 Update
Machias -Footing excavation formwork, and rebar installation were completed at the administrative wing and gym/commons areas, and some footings have been poured. The building permit was approved.
Riverview - Building layout is complete. Geo pier installation complete. The building permit was approved, and foundations for the gym/commons area were poured. South basement walls have been poured and stripped. Footing excavation and formwork at the administrative area/library are in progress.
January 2010 Update
Machias - The school board awarded the construction contract to Graham Contracting Ltd, and the notice to proceed has been issued. Structural steel shop drawings are in progress.
Riverview - The school board awarded the construction contract to Babbit Neuman. A pre-construction meeting was held on December 21st. Babbit Neuman has started to mobilize and survey the project site, and structural steel fabrication has begun.
December 2009 Update
Machias - The fireline and hydro-seeding are complete, and a final survey was done. Structural steel shop drawings are in progress. The conditional use permit has been received.
Riverview - Site work was completed, and structural steel drawings are 20% complete. Bids were opened November 17, and the low responsible bidder is Babbit Neuman Construction. A final survey has been completed. The conditional use permit has been received.
November 2009 Update
Machias - The water line and offsite water line work have been completed. Building pads and retention ponds have been completed. The contract for a steel package with United Iron Works has been executed. Shops drawings are in process. Phase II Building construction was advertised on Oct. 26.
Riverview - A steel pre-construction meeting was held, and shop drawings are in progress. Phase II building construction was advertised on Oct. 19 and Oct. 26. Geo-thermal trenching and header connection have been completed. Excavation of the building pad is in progress, and a final survey has commenced.
October 2009 Update
Machias - The waterline is 80% complete, and offsite waterline work is 90% complete. Debris/rock crushing, cement treatment, and salvaged tree relocation have all been completed. A contract for the steel package was approved.
Riverview - Crushing of debris/rock/asphalt was completed. Geo-thermal well drilling continues. The storm drainage system and several vaults were installed. A contract for the steel package was approved.
August 2009 Update
Machias - Building demolition was completed, and the sanitary sewer is 100% complete. The waterline is 50% complete, and offsite waterline work has begun. All material for Phase 1 has been delivered onsite.
Riverview - Hazardous material abatement has been completed. Building demolition is almost complete. Power/transformers have been pulled form the site.

Design Development was completed on schedule. The early site package went out to bid, and bids were due May 28th and June 4th, respectively.

Design development is 50% complete and on schedule. No wetlands were identified in additional surveys.

Design development began on February 6. Additional wetland surveys along the proposed new waterlines are in progress. The Freshman Campus site is being prepared to house Machias and Riverview students while their new schools are being built.
