Snohomish High School Renovation

What’s next for Snohomish High? Renovation continues
New auxiliary gym completed June 2010
Voter-approval of the May 2008 bond is allowing the SHS renovation to continue uninterrupted. The new Snohomish High auxiliary gym, weight room, dance/aerobic/wrestling room, sports medicine and training room, and PE classrooms were turned over the district in early June of 2010, weeks ahead of schedule. A Building, the commons, cafeteria, and main gym are all scheduled for completion summer of 2010.

Next up: Several projects remain to be completed over the next few years, including a new performing arts center with drama, band and choir rooms. The library and administration building will be gutted and completely remodeled, along with a classroom addition. B Building will be demolished, and new visitor parking and student drop off areas will be created. “The goal for our district is to have two comparable high schools,” says Project Manager Jim Price, a third generation SHS graduate.

Construction on an occupied site is complex. “Ensuring student safety is our top priority,” says Price. Other priorities are maintaining a good learning environment and meeting the construction schedule. Logistical planning and site work are ongoing.

Construction will continue through July 2012, when the entire remodeling project is expected to be complete.
