Foundation awards $21,674 in Classroom Grants

The Snohomish Education Foundation has awarded 42 grants totaling $21,674 to support programs in classrooms throughout our district.


Nancy Collins, Dutch Hill Librarian, uses her grant to register the 6th graders in her school for Idita Read, an interactive on-line reading program that mirrors the Alaskan Iditarod. Using reading minutes for their miles, students chart their progress across the Alaskan wilderness from Anchorage to Nome while they study the real Iditarod. Supplemental activities include mapping, science, social studies, history, art, and geography. Off line, students read a minimum of 20 minutes per day.
