The Special Services Department handles all of the special programs for the district, from early childhood education to homeless education, special education, and English Language Learning, to name a few. Information about our department and links to a few of the programs the district offers to meet the needs of our students are listed below. Childfind
The special education department is seeking to locate any students, age birth to 21, who have developmental disabilities or handicapping conditions and are not currently being served. Referral may be made by any concerned person and should be made to Marian Sherwood in the Special Services Department, 360-563-7310. Contact may be made at the district office by either a letter, phone call, or in person. Screening is free of charge but appointments are required.
Special Education Parents Advisory Council
The Special Education Parents Advisory Council has general meetings that will be established in the fall. The purpose of this group is to promote special education programs in the district and enhance communication between parents, community and schools.
Support Staff
The district employs hearing and speech specialists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, and the services of a psychologist. For more information about these programs, click here.
Title I and LAP
Title I and the Learning Assistance Program (LAP) are administered by Teaching & Learning Services.
