The school program at Machias Elementary focuses on the academic and social progress of all of our students. All students are valued as unique individuals with an individual pattern and timing of growth. All staff assume responsibility for nurturing each child's potential, allowing them to fully develop their academic and creative talents while encouraging personal integrity and a love of learning.
Curriculum and instruction are responsive to individual differences in that different levels of ability, development and learning style are expected. Classroom materials are multiple and varied. Evaluation is centered around individual accomplishment in relationship to learning standards. The school staff has high expectations for students and each other. The students at Machias receive an excellent education.
