Want to know if school is open
and on-time today?

SchoolReport.org (click here) has the latest information about school closures or delays.

Closures and Weather Delays:

When winter arrives, the possibility of school closure or delay in starting time due to weather or road conditions must be considered.

We realize that families and schools share the responsibility for providing a safe environment for students while they are riding district buses and during times of emergency school closures.  Please encourage your student(s) to be cooperative in observing the safety rules enforced by bus drivers.

School Closure and Late Start

Radio stations KIRO 710 AM, KING 98.1 FM, KOMO 1000 AM, and KRKO 1380 AM will be asked to announce school closure or late start information. TV stations that will air this information are: KING 5, KOMO 4, KIRO 7, and KCPQ 13. For the most current information, you can visit the PSECS (Public Schools Emergency Communications System) web site at: SchoolReport.org.

Parents should NOT call schools, officials, radio stations, or the U.S. Weather Service. If there is no announcement to the contrary, Snohomish Schools will be operating at or near the normal schedule.

On 'late start' days, buses will try to maintain a correspondent schedule.  However, because safety rather than speed is the determining factor, buses may run behind schedule when fog, ice or snow conditions exist.  Parents are urged to make sure their children are adequately clothed so waiting in cold weather will not be too uncomfortable.

If there is a delayed start, the following schedule changes will apply:

  • Half-day Kindergarten, both morning and afternoon sessions, will be cancelled
  • All-day Kindergarten Classes will be held, and will follow the late start schedule
  • All preschool/ECEAP canceled
  • No out-of-district transportation
  • Morning Skill Center canceled
  • Elementary band canceled
  • Zero hour classes canceled
  • Within the bounds of student safety, schools will try to continue to operate if at all possible.

If school has closed for the day, no after-school meetings or practices will be held.  All evening meetings/functions scheduled to take place in district facilities will also be canceled.

Limited Transportation

When weather conditions dictate that certain roads are not safely passable, the district will announce that it is providing "limited transportation."  Your child's bus driver will let students know the roads that will be impacted on his/her route, and each school office has a list of the affected roads/areas within their boundaries.  Please remember, if limited transportation is announced it will be in effect for both the morning and afternoon routes, even if roads have cleared during the day.
