Cell phone policy, procedure to be considered by school board

The topic of cell phone use by students during school hours has been a significant topic of discussion over the past few years. Studies have shown that cell phone access during instructional time can impact the learning environment. For this reason, the Snohomish School District School Board is considering a standardized cell phone policy to ensure consistency across all schools. This policy aligns closely with our current practices, so most will experience minimal change.

Is your ParentSquare contact information incorrect?

Our district uses ParentSquare as a tool for communication with our parents/guardians, students, families and staff. ParentSquare works with the district’s student-data system (Skyward/Family Access) to notify families and staff through phone, text and/or email of emergencies, inclement weather situations, attendance issues, underfunded student meal accounts and other events/activities. As long as we have a phone number and/or email on record for each parent/guardian, the child's family should automatically receive these messages when they are sent out. Click here to learn how to edit your phone number and/or email if it is incorrect ParentSquare.

  • Mikerson the troll

Troll masters: Cathcart Elementary students create recycled art with heart and purpose

Meet Mikerson, a troll created by students in Carrie Henderson’s class at Cathcart Elementary. Mikerson, is the product of a collaboration between the class, art docent Liz Olson, and inspiration from Danish sculpture artist, Thomas Dambo. Students used all recyclable materials and a lot of imagination to help design the large troll which now sits as the protector of the school’s outdoor classroom. In addition, each student designed and constructed min-trolls and inspired by Dambo’s tradition of giving each troll a unique name and story, they crafted names and stories for their own troll creations as well.
