Asbestos Management
-
In 1986, the district was required to adhere to the Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA). Since then, we have continued to inspect any known asbestos every six months, and our custodial/maintenance staff members receive annual training. Additionally, every three years our facilities are re-inspected by an accredited inspector.
Asbestos in a non-friable state and left undisturbed presents no health hazard. Should any of this material need to be disturbed or is found disturbed, please contact the district Maintenance Supervisor at 360-563-3532.
AHERA manuals are available at sites where asbestos remains. A copy of the management plan can be reviewed in each school office or in the Maintenance Office. All material safety data sheets (MSDS) are maintained by the custodial supervisor. If you have questions regarding the district’s asbestos management program, contact Keith Stefanson, Director of Maintenance, at 360-563-3532.
