March 10, 2020 COVID-10 Update and Information For Families

All of our schools were closed on Tuesday, March 10, after learning a district-level employee who works in our Transportation Department office tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday, March 9. The impacted employee has been quarantined and is being cared for and monitored as recommended by the Washington State Department of Health/Snohomish Health District.

As a point of clarification, this employee works in an office and does not have contact with any students. In addition, the Washington State Department of Health/Snohomish Health District completed its investigation and has determined that no other individuals in the Snohomish School District were identified as “close contacts” and there was no need for any student or staff member to be in quarantine.

March 6, 2020 Update and FAQs

As the Snohomish School District Emergency Response Team (ERT) meets and follows the Snohomish Health District’s guidance, we are enacting several new safety measures in response to the COVID-19 outbreak. These measures are necessary in order for the district to continue its educational mission, keep schools open, and meet its obligations to the wider community. We recognize these new precautions will likely create hardships in our community. However, these measures, under the guidance of the Snohomish Health District, are being put into place to reduce exposure to COVID-19 by limiting the number of people coming in and out of our buildings, conserve on vital resources (custodial supplies and labor) and align with neighboring districts whom we are working closely.
