  • Class of 2020 Update - May 15, 2020

    Class of 2020 Update - May 15, 2020

Yesterday we received the Washington State Department of Health’s graduation guidance. For more than a month, our school and district administrative teams have been actively investigating and planning ways to best celebrate and recognize our Class of 2020 within the state’s “Stay Home, Stay Healthy” framework. Through feedback from our survey of seniors and families, we clearly heard that the ability to be with family and/or walk across a stage was of utmost importance.

We would like to provide further details regarding plans for graduation for AIM High School, Glacier Peak High School and Snohomish High School. Our message yesterday did not intend to create anxiety or frustration. The intent was to let you know that although we will be unable to have a traditional ceremony at an arena or stadium, that we were diligently working on an alternative plan that would celebrate and recognize the Class of 2020.

Semester Grades – Middle School and High School

Thank you for your patience as we developed the following grading procedure. The state provided its guidance for grading yesterday, and the document you are receiving today reflects those directives.

The foundation of this process is based on our goal of minimizing the impact of the school closure on our students. The core of this grading procedure is to encourage students to stay engaged with the lessons and their learning activities. Through this engagement, teachers will provide feedback to students on their academic work to support the continued learning of academic standards.

As we work together to educate our students, please know we value your feedback. We appreciate your questions and are continually listening to your suggestions. We are committed to working in partnership to make adjustments for the benefit of all students.

Thank you for your support and keep safe.

April 14, 2020 Message from Superintendent Kultgen

As we continue to march through the COVID-19 outbreak together, for every decision made many, many more appear. As a district, with each decision we are striving to minimize the negative impact of the closure on each student. This goal is difficult as the closure impacts every student, family and staff member and each one is impacted differently depending on their situation.

April 6, 2020 Message from Superintendent Kultgen

Earlier today Governor Inslee extended the closing of all K-12 districts for the remainder of the school year. Snohomish students will continue their education through our distance learning plan. Last week a message was sent detailing the daily schedule of this plan. This will be the basis for student learning until the end of the year.

You will have the opportunity to check out these devices at the following locations and times. Students are able to check out computers/laptops. However, a parent/guardian will need to accompany students who requested hotspots. Please have your ID or your student’s school ID available. With the district-wide closure of all schools in the Snohomish School District, we wanted to provide families with more information to support students’ access to learning. The materials do not replace the experience of being in school but can help students maintain the learning that has taken place this school year.
