Tell me more about 100% online instruction.
The online schedule consists of daily, live instruction and learning between the student and district teachers. This learning model is available for students in grades pre-K-12. Teachers are available to students Monday through Friday. Teachers instructing in this program are district teachers from the student’s home school.
100% online instruction is a good learning model to choose for those who want an all online or hybrid (once in-classroom instruction is allowed) model. When in-classroom instruction is allowed, families will be asked again which model they want to transition to. Those who chose hybrid at that time will be able to easily transition from 100% online instruction to the in-classroom model.

What are the student schedules for those choosing the 100% online instruction model?
The online schedule consists of daily, live instruction and learning between the student and district teachers. This learning model is available for students in grades pre-K-12. Teachers are available to students Monday through Friday.
Teachers instructing in this program are district teachers from the student’s home school.
Click here for the online student schedules for students in developmental preschool, grades K-2, grades 3-4, grades 5-6 (Note: Students in the 4/5/6 class will follow this schedule), and grades 7-12.
-
Can my child participate in the 100% online instruction model if I'm not home to help them?
Yes. We will support students to have a clear process to logon to their laptop/device and click on the Zoom for their daily instruction. Once the student is on Zoom, the teacher will provide the instruction and will work with students to be engaged throughout the daily lesson.
-
What will happen with specialist time (PE, music, library) at the elementary grades?
While the district is providing instruction under remote learning, elementary specialists (PE, music, library) will continue to provide their content for all students each day after lunch. In the morning elementary specialists will also be available to provide additional support during daily live instructional time, assisting grade level teachers in their work with students.
As conditions change and the district is potentially able to move to a hybrid instruction (in-classroom) model, the district will need to re-evaluate specialist time around class sizes and schedules. -

Describe hybrid instruction.
Hybrid instruction provides a blend of remote and in-classroom instruction from teachers at a student’s home school. Hybrid instruction will only be offered in our district once it is determined in-classroom instruction can continue. Our staged Re-Opening 2020-2021/Roadmap to Learning plan will be determined by the impacts of a changing COVID-19 pandemic, available resources, direction from Snohomish Health District, Washington Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) and Governor Jay Inslee.
Under the hybrid instruction model:
- Students in grades pre-K-2 would attend school every day in their home elementary school.
- Students who receive special services in grades 3-12 may attend more frequently according to their needs up to every day.
- Students in grades 3-12 (those not utilizing special services) would attend their home school every other day (A - Monday/Wednesday or B - Tuesday/Thursday). A decision on what the Friday schedule will look like continues to be discussed.
- AB groups will be separated by alpha allowing families to remain on the same schedule. There will be a process should a student/family need to appeal to be in a different group.
- All safety protocols will be followed.
-
Can families transition between models throughout the school year?
Families will be given opportunities to transition between models throughout the school year, and there will be a process for doing so. As a district we are committed to have in-classroom instruction as soon as we are safely able to do so. At this time, we do not have a definitive timeline when in-classroom instruction will be allowed under the state guidelines.
