How will staff be notified of positive test results impacting worksites?
Staff will be notified of a positive case in the building, with no further detail, in compliance with HIPAA law. Information will be provided on a building specific basis only. A communication to the building will be one of the following:
- "An individual in our school community has tested positive for COVID-19. If you were determined to be a close contact of this individual, you would have received a communication about quarantine/isolation from the Snohomish Health District. If you have not received a communication, you are not considered at risk and do not need to take any action. Remember, the best way to prevent the spread of COVID-19 is by staying home when ill, wearing face coverings, physical distancing, avoiding large gatherings, and practicing good health hygiene habits. For more information, please see this handout from the Snohomish Health District on school and COVID-19 and what to expect."

How will the district address staffing need proactively to prepare for when nurses call in sick or must quarantine?
The district will work through substitutes or reassignments as needed. The district is in the process of hiring additional nurses for providing fulltime school nurses. Additionally, the COVID-19 supervisors are developing a backup plan in the event that the nurse or COVID-19 supervisor is out sick for the day. Nurses from other buildings will be made available to support the affected building shortfall.
-
How will the district ensure there is enough nursing staff to cover all the needs in each building, given this new health-intensive situation?
Every school has nursing support. Currently, three additional nurses (FTE) will be hired.
