Quarantine and Isolation

  • Testing positive for COVID-19
Those who test positive for COVID-19 are required to isolate. The individual may return to school after 5 full days (day 0 is the first day of symptoms) of isolation if:

    • Their symptoms have improved, or they have no symptoms, and
    • They are without a fever for the past 24 hours without using fever-reducing medication.

Individuals who were COVID-19 positive and are returning to school after a 5-day isolation period are required to wear well-fitting face coverings/masks for days 6 through 10 after their symptom onset or positive test result. (Note: The face covering/mask is not required on day 6 through 10 if the individual has tested negative with an antigen or at-home test any day after day 5. Testing beyond day 10 is not necessary.)

    Exposed to COVID-19
Exposed students and staff may continue to take part in all in-person instruction, including athletics, performing arts, and other extracurricular activities, as long as they are not symptomatic. If an exposed student or staff member develops symptoms, they are required to immediately isolate at home and follow the appropriate protocols.

Students and staff who were potentially exposed to COVID-19 are encouraged to:

    • Monitor for symptoms, and
    • Consider wearing a well-fitted face covering/mask (if age appropriate) for 10 days after the last date of exposure, especially during activities like high-risk indoor sports, performing arts, etc., and
    • Get tested 3-5 days after their last exposure. Those who test positive, must isolate.

    COVID-19 reporting
Through our online Self-Reporting Tool, students and staff can report if they or their student have tested positive for COVID-19. All positive cases of COVID-19 should continue to be reported to the school nurse or principal so we can provide guidance and support.

Those who test positive for COVID-19 outside of the school setting should also self-report through one of the following DOH tools:

    • Use the WANotify App to report positive result.
    • Contact the DOH COVID-19 hotline at 1-800-525-0127, then press #, to report the positive result from an over-the-counter test.
