    Quarantine and Isolation Timelines

    Testing positive for COVID-19
    Those who test positive for COVID-19 should (recommended but not required) isolate for five full days. The individual may return to school and activities after five full days (day zero is the first day of symptoms) of isolation if:

    • Their symptoms have improved, or they have no symptoms, and
    • They are without a fever for the past 24 hours without using fever-reducing medication.

    Individuals who test positive for COVID-19 should (recommended but not required) to stay home and isolate for five days. Individuals returning from five days of isolation should wear a well-fitted mask from days six to 10. Individuals are also encouraged to test before returning to school. Those who continue to test positive for COVID-19 after day five should (recommended but not required) to isolate for the full 10 days.

    Exposed to COVID-19
    Exposed students and staff may continue to take part in all in-person instruction, including athletics, performing arts, and other extracurricular activities, as long as they are not symptomatic. If an exposed student or staff member develops symptoms, they should (recommended but not required) isolate at home.

    Students and staff who were potentially exposed to COVID-19 should (recommended but not required) to:

    • Monitor for symptoms, and
    • Consider wearing a well-fitted face covering/mask (if age appropriate) for 10 days after the last date of exposure, especially during activities like high-risk indoor sports, performing arts, etc., and
    • Get tested three to five days after their last exposure. Those who test positive are should (recommended but not required) isolate.
