• More than 88% of career and technical education (CTE) students plan to continue post-secondary education.
• Six in 10 students are planning to pursue a career in a CTE area they are exploring in high school.
• Almost one-third of CTE students have an opportunity to earn college credit and/or industry certification through CTE.
• Snohomish School District offers student credits for 29 different college courses (Including advanced placement/AP), and there are 65 different (this number does not include those classes offered through Sno-Isle TECH Skills Center) approved CTE classes offered at our middle and high schools.
• The top three skills and experiences that students report gaining in their CTE classes are skills to help with employment; real-world examples to help them understand the relevance to their academic coursework; and the chance to work as a team.

CTE is a multi-year sequence of courses that integrates core academic knowledge with technical and occupational knowledge to provide students with a pathway to post-secondary education and careers. CTE programs promote student interest and academic success, while also developing technical and soft skills training necessary to meet 21st century workplace demand. Graduates of today’s CTE programs are better prepared for high-wage, high-skill, and high-demand careers.

Apprenticeships, technical schools, community college, military or four-year university are options that can be explored in our courses. STEM concepts are taught in many of our CTE courses and include a blend of academic, technical and trade skills. Many CTE courses offer college credit through tech prep programs, College in the High School or advanced placement courses.

CTE incorporates STEM concepts and hands-on projects. The Snohomish School District offers 18 different pathways in our CTE programs. These pathways provide students with a suggested sequence of courses that can lead to college credit and/or industry certification. Student leadership clubs include DECA, FBLA, FCCLA, FFA, HOSA, Skills USA and TSA.
