How are private and semi-private lessons booked?
- Private lessons are booked through the Snohomish Aquatic Center Private Lesson Coordinator. All private and semi-private lessons are 30-minute lessons and are typically booked continuously in sets of four lessons (one lesson per week on the same day and at the same time weekly).
- Your lesson spot will be reserved for you and for as long as your student remains in private/semi-private lessons or until your student graduates from our learn-to-swim lesson program (levels preschool through level 5).
- Snohomish Aquatic Center does not match students for semi-private lessons. If you are interested in shared lessons, please register as a group (i.e., with a sibling, friend, or classmate that is the same age and swim level).
-
Will shorter lesson times for private lessons mean my child will learn less?
- No, in private lessons, the instructor can give their full attention to their student for the entire lesson, which means your child will have the opportunity to learn quicker and with a more focused lesson.
-
Will my child's private lesson instruction be the same as everyone else's?
- Private lessons follow the same curriculum as our group lessons. That said, no two people/students learn alike. Private lessons are tailored for each student's swimming abilities and styles. Our program is progressive and designed around the belief that ability should determine where a student is placed (not age) and that skill mastery is more important than skill introduction. Our instructors can modify the pace and teaching style of the lessons to fit your child's needs.
-
How can private lessons benefit younger children (ages 3 to pre-teen)?
- Young children may experience some separation anxiety when away from parent/guardian in a group lesson setting. With a single instructor, they will be able to ease your child’s fears while showing them how to be comfortable in the water.
-
How can private lessons benefit older children (pre-teen and teens)?
- Students ranging from pre-teens to teenagers may have a fear of looking foolish or being the center of attention in a group swim setting. Private lessons eliminate the fear of judgement by removing other people/students from the equation, which creates a much more effective learning dynamic where students are free to experiment and ask questions as they arise.
