All newsletters available through ParentSquare
-
Beginning with the 2024-2025 school year, all district families and staff from a particular school will automatically receive school and district newsletters through ParentSquare.
Please note that through the “Participate” button on the ParentSquare dashboard, registrants can additionally click to join a school “Community Group” to receive the community-relevant information from any other school they are not a parent/guardian or staff member at.
Those with no students enrolled in a Snohomish School District School or you do not work for the Snohomish School District can enroll in a "Community Group" by clicking here to receive district newsletters (ex. Dear Friends).
What are ParentSquare & StudentSquare?
-
ParentSquare (for families) and StudentSquare (for middle and high school students) is an easy-to-use communication tool that combines multiple communication streams into one interface for families, staff, and students. ParentSquare and StudentSquare are a district and school tool or non-instructional communication. Skyward/Family Access and Canvas will remain the district and school tools for instructional communication. Here’s what you can do with ParentSquare and StudentSquare this year:
- Receive information from the school via email, text, phone call, or mobile app notification
- Two-way messaging with translation between staff and families/students
- Choose to receive information as it comes, or all at once at 6 p.m. daily
- Communicate in your preferred language
Please note that not all Snohomish School District teachers/staff are using ParentSquare to message or for classroom communication this year (2024-2025) as it is optional. Once fully implemented, ParentSquare features include:
- Mass notifications and urgent alerts with two-way communication
- District, school, teacher, and classroom communication
- Consolidated, news-feed-style contacts from multiple sources when and how they’re wanted
- Mobile application for staff and parents/guardians (iOS and Android)
- Attendance notifications
- Direct messaging with two-way translation
- Social media and website share
- Appointment sign-ups
- Calendar and RSVP
- Volunteering and classroom supply sign-ups
- And much more!
As a reminder, not all features noted above will be implemented for the 2024-2025 school year. As we continue to utilize the platform in the school years ahead, additional features noted above may be utilized.
How do ParentSquare and StudentSquare work?
ParentSquare and StudentSquare automatically generate an account for each parent/guardian and middle and high school student, using the primary email address and phone number for each parent/guardian provided for Skyward/Family Access. Middle and high school students are able to access through their district student email addresses. We encourage you to access your accounts so you can download the mobile app and update your preferences on when and how you are notified.Download the ParentSquare app

How is my communication managed?
You can receive communication from the district, school, and classroom by email, text, app, phone call, or the ParentSquare or StudentSquare website. We have set the default to instant, which means you will receive an immediate notification when new information is available. You can change your notification preferences, including your preferred language of communication, on your ParentSquare or StudentSquare account page. Some may prefer to set their notifications to digest, so they can receive all messages in one notification at 6 p.m., rather than instantly. See our FAQs for directions.District and school newsletters
