Special Education Services

Welcome to Special Education Services

Snohomish School District is proud to provide a continuum of services and support for students from age 3 to age 21. We recognize, as a public school system, our moral and legal obligation to provide a Free Appropriate Public Education that is “reasonably calculated to enable a child to make progress” in light of their individual circumstances in the least restrictive environment. (Endrew F. v. Douglas County School District, 2017).

Each of our students and their families should expect to engage with professional staff. If a disability is suspected, a school psychologist and other professionals may conduct an educational evaluation that identifies a need for specially designed instruction and/or related services. Specially designed instruction and any required related services may then be determined through an Individualized Education Program (IEP) meeting.

It is our fundamental commitment that Special Education Services in the Snohomish School District will respond purposefully to the needs and well-being of all students. For that reason, we depend upon healthy, collaborative, inclusive relationships between general and special education staff, students and their families.
