Elementary Human Growth and Development and Secondary Sexual Health family presentations scheduled
Human Growth and Development will be taught each year during 5th and 6th grade and Sexual Health will be taught in 7th, 8th and 9th grade. Families are invited to attend a November 19 webinar to learn about the health standards, activities and resources that will be used to teach each of the topics, and the opt-out process. Middle school and high school - Sexual health will be taught each year in 7th, 8th, and 9th grade in our middle school PE courses and high school health course. Middle school topics include puberty, anatomy and reproductive system, HIV/AIDS prevention, healthy relationships as well as decision-making, consent and Washington state laws related to sexual health. High school topics include anatomy and reproductive system, pregnancy and childbirth, abstinence, contraception, sexually transmitted disease prevention, consent and Washington state laws related to sexual health.
