Dear Little Cedars Parents,
Welcome to our new families and returning families to Little Cedars for the 2014-2015 school year! I hope you all have had a nice summer and are having a great start to the beginning of the school year with your students. We are so glad to have each of you here and we are looking forward to an exciting learning adventure.
To introduce myself to our new families I have been a counselor in Snohomish School District for 20+ years including being at Little Cedars since we opened in 2007! I am really looking forward to seeing all your children again and getting to know our new children as I love working with kids.
As a counselor I work with the students, teachers, staff and parents to help them if there are issues making it difficult for them at school. I will: meet with students individually, be available for consultation to staff and to parents, offer Groups as needed, and provide classroom lessons. In the next couple of weeks I will be starting up ourConflict Mediator program for 5th/6th grade students who are interested in helping younger students solve problems at recess. I work in coordination with our Educational Assistants on our Wolverine Workers Jobs Program. I help the Glacier Peak coordinator with the Glacier Peak Grizzly Cub program where 4th/5th/6th grade students are matched up with high school students and get together for once a month activities. In addition for our 6th year Mrs. McMaster and I will be offering a Parenting session focusing on Love and Logic Tuesday, September 30 more details to follow.
At LCE we started to focus more on developing a culture of kindness that we call Kindness Counts. Kindness Counts class reps did classroom lessons and activities that focused on kindness with the Kindies, 1st and 2nd graders. Last year the Kindness reps created a kindness tree where acts of kindness are recognized and shared all year long. Please stop by and look at our Kindness Tree with our new Kindness Quote. I will keep you posted in the LCE newsletter on Kindness activities this year.
If you have concerns regarding your child/ren please contact me by email or phone. During the school year I meet with students by themselves or with groups of students to work through conflicts as they come up at school. Always feel free to call me if I do meet with your child. You may follow-up at any time with me by email, phone, or in person. I strongly support school and families working together to help your student(s). On the Counselor Corner of the LCE website is a Counselor Permission slip you can fill out and send in as well.
My position at Little Cedars is full time. I am available for discussions, referrals, questions, or if you need someone to talk to. Please call or make an appointment to meet with me at school. My phone number you can reach me at Little Cedars 360-563-2908 or please email me at email@example.com. If you are interested in having me meet with your child, please print out the counseling referral form on the website, sign it and send it in.
I am looking forward to working with your child/children this year!
