The following week, they return to talk about how the book and activities were received before getting the next book and activities. This fabulous program reminds all our families that culture and language are key foundations of learning.”

March 2026 Golden Apple Award Recipient Angela Bowers
Angela Bowers
Teacher- Cascade View Elementary

Angela was nominated for the Golden Apple Award by parents/guardians. She was hired in August 2024 as a fourth-grade teacher at Cascade View Elementary, where she continues to serve today.
The Golden Apple Award recognizes staff members for their above and beyond service to help create an educational community that ignites a passion for learning where every student is known and empowered along with exemplifying Snohomish School District’s core values of being student-focused, cultivating a culture of belonging, and an equitable, caring environment for others to thrive.
The nomination form expressed that Angela exemplifies these qualities in the following ways:
“Angie Bowers is a wonderful teacher! My son had her last year, and she was new to Cascade View. She is very organized, understanding and caring of her students.”
“I have volunteered many times on her classroom for parties and other events and you can just feel the love in the room that she has for her students.”
“Mrs. Bowers has transformed my kiddo's relationship with learning. For the first time, this year he: was excited to get to school in the morning; talked to us in positive terms about what he was learning; had friends at school that he consistently talked about after school; is able to test at or near grade level instead of way behind; had a parent/teacher conference that felt positive and hopeful; and described himself as smart!”
“She has gone above and beyond the accommodations listed in our son’s 504 plan to “meet him where he is” with his ADHD. Specifically he has trouble with transitions. Mrs. Bowers tried several strategies, including earlier reminders, reward systems, nonjudgmental open-ended questions, and even had printed a very specific favorite spaceship to his desk that she could silently point to as a reminder to speed up during transition times.”
“I have observed her students: being kind and patient with each other even when they’re really amped up; speaking to adult volunteers with respect and openness; moving through the classroom with confidence while not being totally out of control; using the “calm corner” without judgement; taking responsibility for clean-up; and being praised by her for things like how fast they cleaned up or how kind they ere to a classmate.”
“Some of the most meaningful assignments my child has brought home have been centered around topics of kindness and inclusivity, so I know she has focused on this with the class. And I can tell that it's helping, because my child talks about playing a variety of games with a variety of people at recess.”
“Mrs. Bowers is magic. We love her. She's made an enormous difference for my child, and we will always be thankful.”
“She is just so great and when I see her in the halls or around Cascade View she is always smiling, has a positive attitude and says hello with a hug and asks how we’ve been. Angie is a rare gem of a teacher you don’t find often. I can’t recommend her enough, she is a great addition to CVE!”
Angela, we are proud to recognize you as the recipient of the Golden Apple Award. Thank you for all you do for our students, staff, families, schools, and community. Congratulations!

The nomination form expressed that Danielle exemplifies these qualities in the following ways:
“Mrs. Coats worked at Machias when I was in sixth grade and now teaches at Riverview Elementary. As a kid I was never excited for school. I was scared for who my new teacher would be. The moment I realized how kind and nice she was I was way more excited to be her student!”
“Math was my best but when I didn't do good she gave proper responses and it helped me improve my skills. For the kids who were more advanced, she let us do 7th grade math when we finished and taught us how to find x. She helped me get into Algebra as only a seventh grader. She taught me more than I thought I could learn.”
“She didn’t have us do boring paper assignments, for history, we made clay sculptures, and make oil pastel art. In science we made Oobleck to learn about chemical reactions.”
“She thought about everyone. I never wanted to leave her class and when I left her class, I cried. Not because I was happy to leave elementary school, but because I was sad to leave her.”
“She was always a good example, and I believe she more than deserves the Golden Apple award.”
