Drinking Water Quality
The health and safety of our students and the school community is a top priority for Snohomish School District (SSD). All drinking water fixtures are sampled on a four-year cycle for lead content, utilizing the standards from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the state.
SSD has developed a water quality testing program to manage drinking water fixtures district wide. All drinking water fixtures are sampled for lead content, utilizing the standards prescribed in RCW 28A.210.410.
To protect public health, the EPA has set the standards for the amount of lead in drinking water. If lead is found at any drinking water outlet in a school at levels above 15 parts per billion (ppb), the EPA recommends taking action to reduce the lead concentrations.
