Snohomish Summer Internships

2025 Summer Internship Opportunities

The Snohomish School District Career and Technical Education (CTE) department, in partnership with local businesses, is offering four summer internships that are meant to give students an opportunity to apply the skills that they are learning in the classroom to a future career. The Snohomish summer internships are 60-hour internships that begin the week after July 4th, with the idea that they can be done while also working at a regular summer job.

Are you a local business/organization interested in providing an internship for local students?

Please complete our Host a Snohomish Summer Internship form.

We will contact you to talk more about ideas for your internship, including identifying who at the business/organization will be supervising the internship.

Why do a summer internship?

Interns will learn career skills in a professional environment that will help them in the pursuit of their future careers. Data shows that students who participate in internships that are related to their careers have the following advantages:

  • National Associate of Colleges and Employers (NACE) – Students who have participated in internships receive 1.61 job offers, while students who did not participate in internships receive 0.77.
  • The average salary of someone who has served as an intern is $15,000 higher than someone who has not.
  • 70% of interns are hired from the company in which they interned.
  • The average age of an intern is 17-years-old.

The Snohomish Education Foundation supported students in the internship last summer by giving them a gas card to reduce transportation costs, and to create CTE college/ scholarships with preference for interns.

What are the internships?

Students interested in the summer internships need to be 2024-2025 sophomores or juniors and at least 16-years-old. Students will need to provide their own transportation to the internship sites. Last year there were four internship sites (listed below), and we will add between two to four additional internship sites for the summer of 2025.

  • CrossFit Snohomish in Cathcart/Clearview – Personal training
  • The Goddard School on Seattle Hill Road – Early childhood education
  • North Sound Media (KRKO and KXA) in Everett – Broadcasting, marketing, and event management
  • Snohomish Farmers Market in downtown Snohomish – Event management and entrepreneurship

The internships are supervised by either the business owner, or someone assigned by the business owner, with students also being supported by Brian Burdon, district CTE director.
