Kids' Café Summer Volunteer Opportunities
Since 2010, hundreds of dedicated volunteers have joined us in our effort to feed children and families from our community through our Kids’ Café summer meal program.
Last summer we served 3,424 breakfasts and 9,475 lunches (for a total of 12,899 meals) to young people from our community.
Our Kids’ Café summer meal program is provided through funding from the U.S. Department of Agriculture. This funding allows us to provide these meals. Please be aware that there are state and federal guidelines and regulations we must follow to participate in this program.
How to Volunteer
To sign up for a Kids’ Café volunteer spot, please use the sign-up link here - https://signup.com/go/yVOWNZk
Sign-up instructions:
- Click this link to see our sign-up availability: https://signup.com/go/yVOWNZk
- Review the options listed and choose the spot(s) you like.
- Sign up! It's easy - you will not need to register an account or keep a password through the system.
- All volunteers (this includes district teachers and staff) must have a current completed volunteer application and criminal history form on file with the district. Online volunteer applications can be found at www.sno.wednet.edu/volunteers or by clicking here. Note: Volunteers under age 18 do not need to complete the application. These must be completed and approved before your scheduled volunteer spot or you will be unable to volunteer.
Due to volunteer oversight and the number of individuals who would like to volunteer with Kids' Café' this summer, please sign up for a maximum of four (4) volunteer spots per individual, per summer. All volunteers must be 15 years old or older. Only individuals who have been pre-scheduled and pre-approved will be allowed to volunteer. Walk-in volunteers will not be permitted.
Volunteer Details
- The program will be held Mondays through Fridays from Monday, June 23, through Friday, August 29.
- All volunteers work from the Snohomish High School “headquarters.” Volunteers will need to arrive at the Snohomish High School commons by 8 a.m. and will be needed through about 1:30 p.m. each day.
- Volunteers must be 15 years old or older.
- Two to four volunteers are needed each Monday through Friday throughout the summer.
- Volunteers will begin each day helping prep food, serve, restock, monitor, and clean up. Between breakfast and lunch, volunteers will have time for a break and will work with kitchen staff to prepare items for the food truck and the next meal service.
-
When volunteers are “no shows” for their scheduled volunteer slots, this leaves the Kids’ Café program with a significant operational void on those days. As a reminder, volunteers who need to make an adjustment to their volunteer schedule should visit www.sno.wednet.edu/kidscafe/volunteersignup. We understand that plans change, and illness happens, but if you are no longer able to fulfil your volunteer commitment and need to cancel your scheduled day/time slot please provide as much notice as possible so we can find volunteers to fill the spot.
- At the close of the summer Kids' Café meal program, students who volunteer can request a confirmation letter of volunteer hours for community service documentation (provided upon request).
