Financial Aid & Scholarships
The first and foremost place to check for information regarding scholarships and financial aid is at the college or university's website. They frequently list available scholarships and will list important financial aid deadlines. These scholarship and financial aid deadlines may be different than application deadlines and may require additional application materials.
In order to be eligible for financial aid, students must fill out a FAFSA form. New forms are available starting October 1. It is recommended that students fill out this form as soon as possible and have it electronically sent by FAFSA to the colleges of choice by the financial aid deadline.
Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE) - Some public universities in Washington state and other western states participate in a program where students may qualify for reduction in out-of-state tuition. If a student wishes to apply to an out-of-state school, it is important that he or she checks to see if the school participates in this program and what the application process and deadlines are for the WUE scholarship at that school. Other places to look for scholarships are through employers of either the student or parents, and online. Do be wary of sources that ask for personal information to simply access scholarship sources.
