Adams selected to School Board

Adams selected to School BoardSarah Adams has been selected by the Snohomish School District Board of Directors to fill the post recently vacated by Brandy Hekker. Adams was sworn into office at the Wednesday, August 24, School Board meeting.

Adams resides in the district with her husband and is the mother to two elementary-aged children. She attended Seattle Pacific University where she received Bachelor’s degrees in political science and psychology, and she received her Master’s degree in counseling psychology from The Seattle School of Theology and Psychology. She is currently employed by Compass Health.  Adams has been an active parent in the district having served on the district’s Citizens' Facility Advisory Committee (CFAC). She has also volunteered in classrooms and has served on the Cathcart Parent Organization board.

Adams noted her vision for public education is that it “focus on the whole child and creating a supportive environment where each student is able to reach their full potential and is prepared to succeed in their future endeavors. Schools should prioritize programs that keep children engaged and passionate about learning, such as CTE and the arts. Finally, I believe that it is critical that public schools engage and partner with the community to educate children.”

Hekker, who served as the Board Member representing District 4, recently decided to step down from the post after four years of service. Her last day was July 28. Through an application process, the School Board was tasked with appointing a replacement to serve through the next regularly scheduled board election.
