Zoom Incident

October 30, 2020 - On Thursday, October 29 a Zoom incident occurred at Snohomish High School involving an uninvited participant who used a student’s name and was mistakenly allowed in the class. Once in the class, this person wrote hateful, threatening comments and a racist word on the chat. School administrators are currently working with the district’s Technology department and the local police department to investigate the matter as committing a hate crime is a federal offense.

As a district, we work very hard to create, nurture and maintain a safe, inclusive, equitable and welcoming learning environment for each and every one of our students and staff. We unequivocally condemn and do not condone any type of racism, hate, discrimination, and threats against any one of our students or staff in our district. These incidents are taken very seriously and dealt with promptly and as thoroughly as possible.

Our mission is to protect and maintain the safety of each one of our students and staff and deeply regret that the above-mentioned incident occurred in our schools. We will do our very best to continue to strengthen security measures to protect our students and staff and keep them safe as they learn remotely.
