Follow-up communication rRegarding GPHS incident
October 21, 2021
We wanted to share with district families the message Principal Jeff Larson sent to the Glacier Peak High School community earlier today. Discrimination has no place in our schools. In the Snohomish School District, we stand with our LGBTQ+ students and honor and value the lives of each and every student, staff, and community member regardless of race, ethnicity, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, neurodiversity, social class or disability.
Follow Up Statement
Hello GP Families,
Upon reflection, we want to follow up on the communication regarding the discriminatory comments reported at Glacier Peak High School last week. These comments were transphobic and homophobic. The comments were unacceptable and do not align with our vision of ensuring a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for all, and particularly in this situation, the LGBTQ+ community.
We stand in support of our LGBTQ+ students. In our honoring of each and every student, we will continue to advocate, educate, and improve awareness for ourselves and others around issues which impact our communities.
We would also like to take a moment to express our gratitude to those who brought these comments to our attention. Their advocacy on behalf of their fellow students is to be commended and reflects that WE ARE GP.
Thank you for your continued support as we strive to be better humans and prepare our students to lead extraordinary lives.
Jeff Larson
Principal
