For years, the Washington School Recognition Program has honored K–12 public schools across the state for closing opportunity gaps and for students’ growth and academic achievement. For the 2023-2024 school year, two Snohomish School District schools recently earned this recognition. Across Washington state, only 16% of schools received recognition.

Congratulations to the following Snohomish School District schools:

  • Cascade View Elementary: “Closing Gaps” for one or more student groups (2023-2024)
  • AIM High School: “Growth” for one or more student groups (2023-2024)

There are three routes for schools to be honored by the Washington School Recognition Program:

  • Closing Gaps: Recognized for significant progress in areas needing improvement, such as assessment scores, English learner progress, or graduation rates.
  • Growth: Schools with at least one student group making some of the state’s largest annual gains in performance measures like attendance, assessments, or graduation rates.
  • Achievement: These schools have the state's highest performance in at least two key areas, including attendance, dual credit completion, assessment scores in English language arts or math, graduation rates, or ninth-grade credit attainment, and are above average across all reportable student groups on the 2025 Washington School Improvement Framework

The program is a joint effort between the State Board of Education (SBE), the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI), and the Educational Opportunity Gap Oversight and Accountability Committee (EOGOAC). Its purpose is to celebrate effective practices, support student success, and promote continuous improvement in schools across Washington.
